UNIVERSITY
RESIDENCE
- For over
18 year-old students, we offer the opportunity to stay in a local university
dormitory (restrictions apply)
HOME
RULES AND LOGISTICS (under 18)
- Normally,
the families are within 20-30 minutes of the school by metro or by foot
(which, for a metropolitan area like Barcelona during morning rush hour,
is quite convenient)
- Families
don’t always have free broad band Internet access. Internet is
provided at the school, however
- There
is a common curfew for all participants so that there is no discrimination
about “staying out at night” (Sunday PM – Thursday
PM at 22:30 / Friday PM – Saturday PM 00:00 unless permission
is granted)
- Laundry
service is provided, but as there can be water restrictions during the
summer, laundry is not done on a daily basis
- Although
all rooms are cleaned daily, students are encouraged to be ambassadors
of good manners and respect to the Spanish school and the host family
FOOD
- Breakfast
usually includes cereal, yogurt, fruit juice, fruit, bread or croissant
and jam, cheese or slices of cold ham, with milk, tea or coffee. Spanish
breakfasts do not offer hot dishes such as pancakes, sausages, fried
eggs and potatoes. Special meal preferences are available but this must
be arranged prior to departure
- Supper
is usually served around 21.00 and is quite abundant, consisting of
two dishes and a dessert. The Mediterranean diet is rich and varied
(high in vegetables, fish, rice, pasta, meat and fruits). Juices and
soft drinks are included
- Lunch:
Barcelona has everything from fast-food (McDonalds, Burger King, Pizza
Hut and KFC) to the excellent typical “menu of the day”,
which offers two dishes, beverage and dessert for approximately 8-10
euros a day. Catalan, Chinese, Japanese, Lebanese, Egyptian and Spanish
restaurants abound. Of course, there is always the school cafeteria,
which is the most reasonable choice in terms of price, quality and logistics
